Although it may initially seem like COVID-19 has led to unprecedented changes in the way life and business is conducted, some would argue the real unprecedented element is the pace at which the pandemic has simply accelerated existing trends. At the beginning of 2020, the world was already retreating toward protectionist tendencies, e-commerce was already on the rise, and fewer, larger shipments were already a reality. As such, discerning which supply-chain disruptions will outlive the pandemic and crafting strategies around them will be critical for business to survive. More importantly, as Oman seeks to position itself as an international logistics hub, connecting three continents, the Sultanate has the incentive to stay ahead of the innovation game and build new customer-centric business models.
