Anatoli Unitsky

Founder, uSky


Anatoli Unitsky is an author, inventor, developer and general designer of two fundamentally different transport systems, Unitsky String Transport, an overground system for passenger and cargo delivery, and the geocosmic General Planetary Vehicle, a non-rocket transport system for exploration of near space. He was born in 1949 in Belarus. He has higher education in the following specialties: Railway Engineer, Patent Law and Inventing, Construction of High-Rise Buildings and Structures. He defended a doctoral thesis on the subject “String Transport Systems – New Technology in Ground Transport.” He is the author of more than 300 scientific articles, more than 20 scientific monographs, and owns more than 200 patents and certificates for inventions, industrial designs and trademarks in the construction, transport, engineering, agriculture, electronics and chemicals industries. He is the Head of two UN-HABITAT projects. He is the Member of the USSR Cosmonautics Federation and Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

TBY talks to Anatoli Unitsky, Founder of uSky, about developments within the company, efficiency, and goals for expansion.
There have been significant developments within the company recently. Can you give us an overview of the company’s presence in Sharjah?

Our group comprises over 20 companies spanning eight countries, with our headquarters located in Minsk, Belarus. While our projects extend to various regions including Russia, the USA, and Indonesia, the emphasis remains on our global objectives. Regarding our establishment in Sharjah, it is important to highlight the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. His commitment to education is evident through the diverse student body at the university, representing over 120 nationalities. When I initially met His Highness in Sharjah, it was at His Highness’s initiative to allocate land specifically for our project. Originally designated for other purposes, His Highness recognized the potential for our endeavor to benefit humanity. Discussions ensued regarding the logistical aspects, with His Highness emphasizing the importance of practical demonstrations and certifications before market entry. This led to an agreement, with considerations made for the necessary land plot requirements. Notably, His Highness’ regular commute past the university further underscored his support for the project. His vision and proactive approach have been instrumental in facilitating our presence in Sharjah. With the support of our extensive network spanning over 220 countries, including notable investor communities in the US, Ukraine, and Spain, comprising 700,000 individuals, we have already initiated the first construction phase. These investors not only provided financial assistance, but also facilitated approvals crucial for our progress. Unlike experiences in other countries like Australia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Germany, where support varied, our endeavors in Sharjah have been met with appreciation and assistance. Here, we have encountered fewer obstacles, with the community welcoming our innovations with openness. It is reminiscent of historic instances where pioneering technologies, such as automobiles and railroads, initially faced skepticism before proving their worth.

It has been highlighted that uSky is more cost-efficient compared to others in executing projects. How do you maintain this efficiency, and what sets you apart?

Consider the staggering volume of fuel—2 billion tons—combusted annually by over 1 billion cars worldwide, depleting oxygen levels in the process. Our approach offers a five-fold increase in efficiency by utilizing steel wheels on rails instead of pneumatic rubber tires on asphalt, and incorporating aerial and suspended solutions. Traditional vehicles encounter significant air resistance—up to 500 km/hour—when in contact with the ground, leading to fuel consumption inefficiencies. Elevating vehicles above ground eliminates this resistance, significantly enhancing efficiency. These technical innovations underscore our commitment to efficiency without compromise. Efficiency transcends mere financial metrics; it is about optimizing inputs. Our innovative solutions have the potential to save countless lives—a priceless impact. Moreover, the total area covered by asphalt roads worldwide is five times the size of Great Britain. Our approach liberates these territories, equivalent to six territories the size of Belarus, offering both environmental and economic benefits. When viewed through this lens, our solutions stand as a testament to efficiency beyond conventional cost considerations.

Could you provide further insights into your international operations?

Presently, uSky’s operations extend across India, various African nations including Tanzania, Rwanda, and Lesotho, as well as several Arab countries and Mexico in Latin America. While our investor base spans over 228 countries, our physical presence varies, with offices established in some regions and temporary arrangements made in others, depending on project demands. Currently, our engineering team, comprising over 600 engineers, is centralized at our headquarters in Minsk, with support from a total of over 1,000 specialists. The complexity of our projects necessitates individualized development, often requiring extensive involvement from multiple teams. This innovative approach distinguishes our endeavors, albeit presenting considerable challenges. Despite these complexities, our commitment remains steadfast, as evidenced by our expansive test grounds, which surpass existing infrastructure.

As the founder, what are your aspirations regarding the company’s objectives in Sharjah and beyond?

While Sharjah represents a significant endeavor for us, it is just one facet of our broader vision. Since childhood, I have harbored ambitions of space exploration, manifesting in his early pursuits of constructing rocket models. Over time, this fascination evolved into a desire to revolutionize space facilities, construction, and manufacturing. Our goal transcends conventional rocketry, aiming to mitigate adverse ecological impacts associated with space exploration. Traditional rockets deplete immense oxygen reserves and incur exorbitant costs, presenting challenges that our innovative approach seeks to overcome. Through advancements in physics, mathematics, and taxation, we envision a future where space exploration is both sustainable and accessible.
