CAPABILITIES

Kobrex has the capacity to handle 60,000 tons of copper per year. We sell between 15% and 20% of our copper rod, and put the rest into wire and cable. We are operating at 80% capacity in our aluminum production facilities. We are a family-owned business and operate four manufacturing facilities in our group.

IN THE BEGINNING

In the beginning, we were only manufacturing copper conductors, so we started to produce aluminum conductors as well. More recently, we have made a number of important investments in medium- and high-voltage conductors. Our primary customer is the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

PRICING

If an important country’s economy is in crisis, copper and aluminum prices fluctuate. Currently, the prices have been a little bit higher than the last quarter of 2011. I believe that prices should start falling again in 2012.

PEMEX & MORE

At present we are an official supplier to PEMEX, and the energy sector accounts for 25% of our sales. Nevertheless, we have a strong presence in the chemical and petrochemicals industries, food supply chains, mining, pharmaceuticals, and agribusiness.

EXPORT DESTINATIONS

We principally export valves to the US and Canada, where we have an extended distribution network, as well as in Europe, where we have a distribution center in the Netherlands. We also sell to several Latin American countries, such as Brazil and Argentina, where we have distribution centers as well.

AFTER THE SALE

We have 42 official distributors in Mexico. They deal directly with a representative of the company according to their locations in order to fully meet the needs of our final customers. Every sale is fully managed by our accounts, and we offer a fully client-oriented service and provide after-sales services, as well as orientate our customers to the best solutions for their specific applications.

We produce special valves in terms of size and utilities and we are the only American valve manufacturer producing different types of special valves for a large number of energy and industrial applications.

INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE

We are working to increase our participation in the international market and we focus on the US in North America, Central and South America, the Middle East, and Africa. It is important to mention that today our brand is widely recognized on those continents.

RISING TO THE CHALLENGE

The energy sector is our core business and it has evolved strongly over the last decade. New trends have risen as well as new needs. For example, deepwater exploration operations need special kinds of valves and applications, and we have developed many new solutions over time in order to meet the needs of this sector.
