"Qatar has a dynamic economy. Over the last few years, we have seen a considerable diversification from solely producing oil and gas to becoming a pioneer in the sports industry and hosting the World Cup."

How do you ensure continued growth for Enbat Holdings in an environment with companies of a more traditional mindset?

Qatar has a dynamic economy. Over the last few years, we have seen a considerable diversification from solely producing oil and gas to becoming a pioneer in the sports industry and hosting the World Cup. Post World Cup, we are seeing another transition in Qatar that is focused on sustainability and wellness. Society is more mature now, and the economy is in a place where it needs greater diversification in the areas of sustainability and wellness. Enbat Holdings has been advocating for this for the past seven years are gaining a certain position in the economy among sustainable companies. We strive to influence the economy and the market to adapt to the lifestyle changes that can have a major effect on society’s long-term health. We are proud to be part of the related movement that has gathered momentum over the years.

How does Enbat Holdings foster the culture of healthy living among the general public?

From day one, our businesses have been focused on making Qatar a better place in terms of health and wellness. Our business is structured to offer healthy alternatives. At the same time, we have linked our businesses with education, whereby we have been visiting schools, giving lectures and holding workshops to change the narrative on healthy eating. Our goal is to start the conversation and dialogue on healthy eating and how eating a fully plant-based diet is linked to sustainability. Through our initiatives, we have seen a greater acceptance from the community, and people are keen to learn more. Every year, we visit around 40-45 schools to provide education on health and sustainability. We have also seen subsequent initiatives from the students who have attended our talks. It is a small effort that has a major impact in the long term. I have always wanted to bring sustainability into schools. I have always been focused on education because one must start related initiatives from a young age to enact change and raise an aware society.

Enbat holdings produces eco-friendly packaging and products at its Papercut factory. Who are its main clients?

Papercut is a is a sustainable packaging factory that I started in Doha in 2017 with the goal of helping hotels, restaurants, shops, and businesses in Qatar to switch from plastics and single-use products that are harmful to the environment to sustainable options. It took time to convince many of the companies, but now we work with over 1,000 in Qatar. The World Cup was an amazing opportunity for us to share our products with a wider audience—our cups were supplied at all eight stadiums. We also work with most of the food events that take place in Doha. We also supply to the bulk of the major restaurants and coffee shops operating in Qatar. 90% of all the cups used in coffee shops in Doha are supplied by Papercut. This was possible because we managed to match the prices of non-environmental versions. We are competitive in the market, turning a profit when companies buy our additional products. Our large product range also features boxes, bags, notebooks, sleeves, pouch-es, and gifting.

What role does technology play in your businesses?

We started in 2017 mostly with manual production, whereas today, just a few years later, almost 80% of our operation is automated. We are capable of producing hundreds of thousands of packaging units a day. And of course, our capacity has grown considerably with the shift toward automation. We have software to monitor and serve our suppliers and customers, and our website facilitates product delivery within 48 hours. We work directly with B2B when it comes to larger orders, but also serve customers directly for smaller ones. The website is revolutionary in allowing our customers to create their own packaging designs.
