Michael Koth

General Manager, Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental

The Emirates Palace hotel was built with Abu Dhabi’s history and Arabian hospitality in mind. The hotel has the color of the sand dunes of the Arabian Peninsula and is full of symbolism. Our hotel features 114 domes, representing the 114 chapters of the Quran. We have 5,500 palm trees in our resort, welcoming guests into an oasis. We have a large meeting chamber with seven beautifully drawn horses that represent the seven Emirates of the UAE. There are arabesque patterns and ornaments everywhere you go, and upon entry receive a traditional coffee to get you in the mood. When you want to get truly submerged into the culture, we are at the center of Arabian hospitality. Our role is to make every guest from Europe or further afield feel at home. The leisure travel segment is becoming increasingly significant in the travel industry as well as the combination of leisure travel with business travel. Conferences and events are crucial components of what we do and are a key revenue driver. Now, the proposition of having a business dinner in such a setting at the Emirates Palace, seeing a drone show or fireworks means that people are bringing their spouses or partners to these events. This is where conferences and leisure blend.

Mehmet Tulunay

General Manager, Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi

Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi is the brand’s second property in Abu Dhabi after Rixos Saadiyat Island opened a few years ago. This new hotel is located in an exclusive marina area, which features residential spaces, malls, entertainment options, sports, a yacht club, and the hotel. In the hotel, we also have residential units. Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi sits in a landmark building that stands out amidst the city’s more traditional architecture. Rixos was established in Turkey in 2000 and has reached a level of exposure and loyalty among its consumers around the region. The hotel also places a strong emphasis on entertainment, catering to all ages and interests with live music in place, DJs, and activities for both adults and children. The goal is to keep everyone entertained and engaged throughout their stay here. The signature of Rixos Marina lies in its unique blend of a city hotel and a resort experience. This combination is what sets the resort apart and makes it an iconic architectural landmark in Abu Dhabi. Its location is right next to the presidential palace, Emirates Palace, and the Corniche which is extremely unique, and guests are able to enjoy a luxurious city resort experience without having to venture far from the heart of the city.
