TBY talks to Mar Suau, Co-owner of Son Brull Hotel & Spa.
How has Son Brull Hotel & Spa established its reputation despite Mallorca’s highly competitive hotel sector?
Son Brull Hotel & Spa means many things for Mallorca. First, it is a hotel established in a historic building, specifically a Jesuit monastery. The hotel opened its doors in 2003, and since then we have been thriving, except during 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, we have seen a strong recovery, given that it is a hotel with great quality that offers considerable privacy and intimacy. Another distinctive feature of Son Brull is that it is the only hotel of its kind owned and managed by the same people. We are a family, my father is the founder who chose quality tourism, and my siblings and I have continued his legacy with a hotel that is part of the luxury tourism landscape of Mallorca. Being managed by a family makes a significant difference to Son Brull. I have always believed that even the most wonderful hotel must be completed with quality staff. We are extremely happy that about 30% of our clients return having become a part of the family.
What is the significance for Son Brull Hotel & Spa to be part of the Relais & Châteaux brand?
Relais & Châteaux is an association of establishments such as restaurants or hotels that share supreme service standards and strong values that go beyond service, we are committed to the local economy, sustainability, and preserving local culture at all levels, and Son Brull Hotel & Spa shares these values. There is a set of requirements to meet the quality, sustainability, and gastronomic standards of the Relais & Châteaux brand. Our hotel is audited, and we are proud to be carrying its seal of quality
