"More important than staying ahead is being relevant."

The Times Kuwait is embracing technology and modern best practices to stay relevant, sustainable, and trustworthy.

With traditional revenue models in journalism facing challenges, is The Times Kuwait exploring any innovative financial strategies to remain sustainable? How has the performance been over the last year in terms of audience growth and channel expansion?

At this point Kuwait is witnessing a stagnation in terms of media spend. So, media houses are tightening their belts and mostly looking at consolidating and retaining market share, which obviously is challenging. There is however tremendous scope for growth and that is what is keeping everyone excited in terms of opportunities.

How is The Times Kuwait engaging with global media trends, and what international collaborations or partnerships are being pursued to enhance its global perspective and coverage?

Digital seems to be the way forward. AI is also changing the way that trend is being pursued. Journalism is now technology based more than at any time before, hence adaptation is the key. We are now engaging with various international platforms to change the way news will be delivered and accessed in addition to the traditional social media platforms.

Staying at the forefront of industry trends is crucial. Is The Times Kuwait exploring the use of AI or other disruptive technologies for news reporting, data analysis, or personalized content delivery?

More important than staying ahead is being relevant. Our focus has and will always be to be accurate more than being fast. Today a lot of data technologies for our online platforms and websites are inbuilt and so we have reasonably good insights of our readership to help us in decision making.

In what ways is The Times Kuwait supporting local journalism and nurturing new talent in the field? Are there any partnerships with educational institutions aimed at diversifying your workforce with more technology-savvy professionals?

Local journalism is at the core of our operations and we encourage both freelance and special correspondents to contribute and participate in reporting. We also engage with social media influencers to contribute and utilize our traditional media platform which is to publish in print and online.

Looking ahead, what is The Times Kuwait’s vision for the next five years, especially concerning digital transformation and market expansion?

We are limited by the market in which we operate. Our focus has and will remain Kuwait. With an aim to foster better understanding between Kuwait and the world and provide incisive and relevant articles we hope to influence positive change.
