How does Adecco contribute to Colombia’s economy and society?

Adecco is a global company present in over 60 countries. Currently, we offer around 1 million job positions worldwide. Regarding the Colombian market, we specialize in human resources management. We have specific business verticals that make us specialists in companies’ needs . The most well-known is our traditional temporary services for companies, in which we have experienced staff in specific areas. We employ around 20,000 people in Colombia with our temporary services. Then, we have recruitment and selection services. There is also an outsourcing division with around 4,000 people working in our organization. The outsourcing aspect concerns marketing and logistics industry services. We provide an end-to-end solution to each client. We also have a payroll division that handles payments and a consulting and training area. All of this makes us specialists in human resources. Over the past 25 years in which we have been present in the market, we have employed more than 600,000 people. It is essential to understand how we collaborate with Colombian society. We provide formal, quality jobs. They might be temporary, but in Latin American countries, there is considerable employment informality at a rate of 53% of the total. We offer formal quality jobs that meet client needs, working at the base of the vulnerability pyramid. Therefore, we are proud to collaborate in taking people out of poverty, not just in Colombia. Our slogan is “Make the future work for everyone,” and we are confident we can do it. That’s what we have been doing these 25 years, after all.

What is Adecco’s approach to integrating AI and digitalization?

We have to accept that AI is here to stay and that it affects all industries. The economy is constantly transforming. Job positions are changing; some are born while others no longer exist. AI represents that, but faster. AI is mathematics applied, that is, a decision on how to do things, which includes a faster and more drastic change that will affect all aspects of the economy. Our company has signed a global alliance with Microsoft to work on generative AI, and then we will work on upskilling and reskilling. People will be the same, but we must train them and provide exceptional knowledge. Some positions will be completely new, so needs are enormous , and we are here to help companies that need training. This is a massive need. We will always be a people’s company for people. This upskilling and reskilling have an emotional as well as technical aspect.

How did Adecco adapt to the home office trend, and how does it balance virtuality with the need for social interaction?

Home office and the pandemic are different situations. The pandemic accelerated home office trends. We survived time naturally despite its complexity. Adecco’s business is in-person jobs, such as factory operators. We need a balance and not an excess of virtuality. We are social beings, after all. Each client makes a decision that provides solutions to accordingly. Our goal is for them to focus on profitability while we handle the rest. We are close to our people, understand their needs, and accompany them in their careers. There are many positive aspects of virtuality, like the economic dimension, but we need people to be present, especially in a company like ours.

Can you give us greater insight into Adecco’s “Win 4 Youth” program and its role in promoting exercise and well-being through an app?

This beautiful program consists of an app where you upload every exercise you do, which gets monetized as donations. “Win 4 Youth” motivates people to exercise, which connects to well-being. You log in and load the exercise you did, and it gives you a score. This is a global initiative we collaborate with for a truly healthy life. In Colombia, each person is required to realize their purpose. First, we must help people find that purpose. We respect people in whatever decision they make. We approach freedom and inclusion in that sense, respecting others.

What are the company’s growth projections, given its market leadership?

We currently have a job search for 2,900 positions we need to cover. Those vacancies need to be constantly modernized. Regarding Latin America, Colombia is the country that hires the most people in the region. Adecco is present in eight countries in LatAm: Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. Our portfolio offers jobs to 80,000 people in the region, and when we formulate plans, we share them with the media. In Colombia, we’ve doubled the size of our operations over the past five years, and today, we are a proud market leader.
