Al Jazeera Network has over 90 nationalities from around the world, and to celebrate this diversity AJMI facilitates different language courses such as Arabic, English, French, and Spanish. QFBA offers training for the entire professional segment of the financial services sector, including staff from the most junior to the most executive levels. We identify needs within the broader economy and relevant organizations to design a product they deem fit for their organizational growth. Before launching any new course offerings, we first scrutinize the skills gap in the market and carry out extensive studies on people who have graduated from institutions of higher education but need a great deal of hands-on training to be able to work effectively. Post a thorough relook, we develop our programs to meet the needs of ever-changing economic dynamics. Such an approach meets QFBA’s missions and vision, while also fulfilling the needs of the financial services sector in Qatar. We have a wide range of courses, including short courses and long-term certification programs that prepare professionals for being tested and certified, as well as four-year university degrees in partnership with Northumbria University. We also have various custom-designed courses for on-the-job training as well as experiential training for which we issue our own certificates in collaboration with international bodies. We have been making efforts to raise financial services industry standards and help organizations and professionals achieve their learning and business objectives, thus aligned with Qatar’s 2030 vision.

QIASS operates in partnership with other organizations in Doha to bring the highest standard of security in training and research to Qatar, having determined a tangible need for this. We have been here since 2005 and have made significant progress in the area of national security, training, and capacity building. Overall, Qatar is creating an environment not only focused on the physical element of security, but on addressing the root factors holistically through investment in research, education, training, and people. Qatar operates a hugely successful public private partnership in dealing with such issues, from symptom to root cause. QIASS has become an international institution, and as such is no longer a Qatari-only entity as we welcome people coming to train here from Singapore, Germany, Romania, the US, Kuwait, and Oman. We have been at the forefront of monitoring the phenomenon of foreign fighters and actually began monitoring the number of people joining ISIS in Iraq and Syria before anybody else, even before ISIS occupied Mosul. We have top-notch trainers and superb courses in the area of law enforcement, intelligence, counter intelligence, tactical, and everything else pertaining to national security. We have dozens of different courses, and Soufan Group manages and runs the academy providing the trainers and training, namely everything to do with the day-to-day operations of the academy.

Emad Al Khaja

The number of initiatives in support of SMEs in Qatar has increased, including incubators and educational support, which is where Injaz has a direct role, especially in entrepreneurial education in line with our partnership with the Ministry of Education. We focus on three main pillars: employability skills, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Financial literacy and financial inclusion have become hot topics, and we are working closely on these with the Qatar Central Bank under the administration of the governor. We set up a committee for financial inclusion with the goal of catering to the younger segment of the population. Financial literacy is an extremely important pillar that has been neglected before, and we are thus working hard on this as well. We are considered a private entity for public benefit, though our funds come mainly from our board companies. Most of our board members are from the private sector and include companies such as Boeing, Qatar Financial Center, Citibank, and Deloitte, among others. These are the main funders of Injaz, though we also have other non-board sponsors. Partnerships do not necessarily mean financial partnerships because we have many other partnerships, for example, most recently with the French Embassy. We continually seek to partner with new companies, organizations, and affiliations, because getting employees involved is essential.

Ibrahim Badreddeen

DISS was established in 2006 to serve an emerging need at the time for construction and the evolution of the oil and gas sector in Qatar. There was a huge need for a company to provide training to staff in both construction and oil and gas-related companies. DISS established highly effective courses to govern, direct, and guide these industries by equipping people with the right knowledge and tools to perform their jobs. Our efforts are in line with the plan and direction of Qatar. After the blockade, we saw growing demand for local products, particularly food. In this regard, we offer courses related to food safety management systems. We provide international accredited food safety courses in catering and manufacturing as well as hygiene courses. Indeed, our scope encompasses the hospitality sector, too. Today, DISS has a large portfolio of training courses for hospitality, as we approach the 2022 World Cup, a time of large-scale, hospitality-related activity. We have also seen increased demand for training in heavy industries and have introduced numerous heavy equipment safety courses. Qatar plans to be self-sufficient in certain industries, and DISS is working to improve and boost related competencies. Our priority has always been to introduce the right technical competency training in Qatar to help those industries keen on becoming competitive in Qatar and the region.
