TBY Awards Claro

Colombia, December 17, 2014—International research firm and publisher of economic annuals, The Business Year (TBY), has formally recognized and acclaimed Claro Colombia as TBY’s Mobile Operator of the Year. TBY presents a range of awards celebrating successes in all fields of business every year.

The excellence of the company has been indicated by the group’s continued commitment to social development and competitive provision of accessible services. Selene Miramontes, TBY’s Country Manager introduced the award by saying, “TBY is pleased to give the award of Mobile Operator of the Year to Claro. This prize represents and acclaims the international recognition that its achievements have drawn from distinguished business leaders around Latin America and the world, and its role in transforming the Colombian economy”

The challenges in the Colombian telecommunications sector are enormous, and Claro’s scale of operations has acted as an inspiration to all operators in the sector. This was indicated in 2014 by the group’s reinvestment of approximately 70% of profits in augmenting points of sale, customer service and call centres. This is complimented today by the coverage of more than 250 municipalities by cable.

Mr. Juan Carlos Archila Cabal, President of Claro was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the company in BogotĂ¡. Speaking about the award, Archila Cabal said, “Thank you for the recognition given to Claro by this award. Thanks to our team in 2014 more Colombians stayed connected, with the biggest 4G network of the country and an Internet and speed inclusion proposal for everyone. All these have been worth the effort, and can be summarised in the name of our social responsibility program: ‘Claro for Colombia’.”
