TBY launches The Business Year: Iran 2017
Tehran, November 8, 2017 – TBY is pleased to announce the launch of The Business Year: Iran 2017, the fourth edition on the country, produced in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade.
The publication features over 150 interviews with top executives and government officials, and is opened by the words of Dr. Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, leading the country as it cements its reemergence as a key global trading partner following the JCPOA. “The result of the JCPOA is a win-win situation that is beneficial to all,” the President said. “We hope to witness economic growth in all countries, especially those we had interactions with in the process.”
This year’s publication contains comprehensive, sector-by-sector coverage of the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead in the coming year for Iran. After the lifting of sanctions, several industries are flourishing. In particular, there has been notable growth in the oil sector, with 2017 marking Iran’s reentry into the international oil and gas community. “Iran’s full return to the global oil market has been a welcome one” Dr Mohammed Sanusi Bakindo, Secretary General of OPEC, revealed in the opening diplomacy chapter.
Industry and mining are another key focus for Iran in 2017, explored in depth in TBY’s coverage. Our in-country partner, the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, placed emphasis on how Iran is deepening its partnerships with public and private sector industrials from a wide range of countries, and earmarking funding for large-scale joint ventures. Dr Mansour Moazami, the Deputy Minister & Chairman of the Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) highlighted: “We have around USD4 billion in foreign investment in the industry and mining sectors. Projects worth USD1.5 billion have been executed in the last 18 months.”
Other key government and private sector figures featured in The Business Year: Iran 2017 include Gholamhossein Shafei, President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture (ICCIMA), Dr. Ali Salehabadi, Chairman and Managing Director of the Export Development Bank of Iran (EDBI), Mehdi Mirmoezi, CEO of Pasargad Energy Development Company (PEDC), and other key interviewees from all the sectors.
The publication ends with a legal guide to doing business in Iran, composed by TBY’s local legal partners, Milani Law Firm.
