The Business Year and Sino-Congolese Chamber of Commerce Sign MoU

Kinshasa, August 6, 2024—The Business Year (TBY), a global media group that has been providing investors, businesses, and governments with first-hand insights into the world’s most dynamic markets for 15 years, and the Sino-Congolese Chamber of Commerce, Investment, and Development, the association of businesses and investors in the DRC, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and are now official research partners for the production of TBY publications.

TBY is in the DRC for the first time producing The Business Year: Democratic Republic of the Congo 2025. With this strategic partnership, the publication will highlight the country’s diverse economic and investment opportunities through articles, analyses, and over 100 interviews with key public and private sector figures.

As an association of Chinese capital, the lead investor in the country, the Sino-Congolese Chamber is essential to illustrating the intricate business environment of the DRC. Known for its extractive industries, the DRC has placed its bets on diversification. Industries like manufacturing, finance, and telecoms have provided the required added value to offer a balanced portfolio of investment opportunities.

Johana Rincón, TBY Regional Director for Africa, said; “With this partnership, The Business Year has assured an ally to showcase investment opportunities in the heart of Africa.”

Gaël Mbayo, President of the Chamber, when talking about the importance of this partnership, stated; “The agreement brings the necessary international media exposure the companies we represent are looking for.”

Founded in 2018, the Chamber’s mission is to help Chinese companies and investors land in the DRC and assist them with legal services and contacts. As of now, the Chamber represents over 130 companies in sectors like mining, construction, pharmaceuticals, and electricity.,

The Business Year: Democratic Republic of the Congo 2025 will be published in the first quarter of 2025. The print version will be distributed locally and available on thebusinessyear.com, while the digital version will also be available on major business intelligence platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, Dow Jones Factiva, Factset, as well as on Google Books and Issuu.
