The Business Year signs MoU with the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca


Palma de Mallorca, June 6, 2021—Representatives from The Business Year (TBY) and the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca have signed an MoU to establish a partnership as part of The Business Year’s plans to expand its coverage of the Spanish economy and produce a higher volume of market intelligence on differing regions. The content will be featured in TBY’s upcoming publication, Special Report: Mallorca. The MoU was signed in Palma de Mallorca between Antoni Mercant Morató, President of Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, and Ioana Popa, Regional Director for The Business Year.

This special coverage of Mallorca’s economy comes at a moment of both impasse and rethinking on the island’s economic future. While COVID-19 has been a blow to its tourism- and real estate-dependent economy, Mallorca’s public and private sectors are starting to work hand-in-hand to draw new lines of economic activity and set out the investments needed to transform the island. Mallorca seeks to promote investments in new sectors that will allow for a planned transition to a more sustainable, greener, and digital environment, which will be favored by Next Generation EU funds.

The MoU was signed after taking into consideration TBY’s experience as a global media group that has been providing investors, businesses, and governments with first-hand insights into the world’s most dynamic markets and sectors for over a decade, and the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca’s position as a representative entity of the island of Mallorca and its business community. Special Report: Mallorca will profile the main sectors offering traditional opportunities for investments, such as the well-known combination of tourism and real estate, and, more importantly, non-traditional opportunities in sectors such as health tourism, sports, local manufacturing, logistics, and audiovisual production, among others. The report will feature the direct words of a wide range of local business leaders through interviews, as well as additional statistical information and articles addressing the main projects and initiatives to bear in mind when considering investing in Mallorca.
